Time, Oil paint on canvas | 4,000 beads | batik fabric, 2025, 22x 28 in
Time is a resource, a limitation, yours, mine, no one’s, a wish, self inflicted. We use celestial bodies to tell time and bring order to universal chaos. The sun and moon are used to create dualities like night and day, feminine and masculine, and light and dark. But what if there was a third option? How would that liberate us from false dualities and rigid systems of time?
I chose beaded embroidery to delve into performance art for this rumination on time. Stitching 4,000 beads for over 70 hours dissolved my concept of time into beads and string rather than seconds and minutes.
