Frijolito continues my series that honors food as an access point to Latinx identity, The black bean is a staple in many Central American and Caribbean countries. Its iridescent glow captures the beauty of raw beans being boiled for hours at a time. Their purple and blue sheen over a rumbling boil brings me home.
